Table End
When a plan member is on sick leave or receiving disability benefits, a medical co-ordinator discusses the situation with the plan member and his/her physician to determine whether Medical Co-ordination Services can have a positive impact on recovery and length of absence.
The medical co-ordinator will then work collaboratively with the treating physician and the plan member, and initiate diagnostic testing, assessment and treatment plans. The medical
co-ordinator will involve a rehabilitation consultant to begin the return-to-work planning as required.
Medical co-ordination can help:
- Shorten the length of disabilities
- Lower the cost of disability and health benefits
- Improve employee health and wellness
- Reduce disability claims experience
- Improve relations between employees and management
- Increase workplace productivity
Our medical co-ordinators are regulated healthcare professionals such as registered nurses, occupational therapists or physiotherapists with current, active registration in good standing with their respective governing bodies. They have a minimum of five years’ clinical experience in the healthcare field.
