The Catholic Youth Organization in Hamilton provides marginalized children, teens and families with a wide range of programs and services involving athletics, camping and leadership skills. The Organization is undertaking a capital campaign to build Marydale Park, the province’s first completely barrier-free, outdoor recreation centre, on a 14.2 hectare site in rural south Hamilton.

$75,000 Contribution from Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life supports Barrier-Free Recreation

Hamilton, March 10, 2009 – Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life are helping build Hamilton’s first barrier-free park with a $75,000 contribution to Marydale Park. This leadership contribution will support people of all abilities through recreational programs at Marydale Park.

“We’re thrilled to support Hamilton’s first barrier-free park,” says Rick Giuliani, Regional Director of The Resource Centre for Great-West Life in Southwestern Ontario.  “Marydale Park will be a vital community resource, supporting thousands of Hamiltonians with disabilities.  We believe strongly in this project and the positive impact it will have for the citizens of Hamilton.”

This contribution comes through The Key to Giving™, the companies’ national corporate citizenship program. Through the program, the companies contribute to non-profit, charitable and community organizations across the country to address health and wellness, education, social services, arts and culture and civic initiatives. The program also supports the volunteer involvement of staff and financial security advisors in their efforts to meet the needs of the communities in which they live and work.

The recreation wing in the main building at Marydale Park will be named after Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life in recognition of this generous contribution.
