Great-West Life sponsors Super Run for families and fun

Winnipeg, June 5, 2009 – Great-West Life celebrates its 20th consecutive year as sponsor of the popular 2.6-mile Super Run at the 31st annual Manitoba Marathon on Sunday, June 21.

The Super Run is especially popular among young runners, families and newcomers to the Marathon, making it an event that fits Great-West’s philosophy of supporting community-driven events that encourage volunteerism, civic involvement and health and wellness.

“We’re proud to note this is our 20th year of sponsoring the Super Run, recognizing our long-term support of the Manitoba Marathon and its goals,” says Jan Belanger, Assistant Vice-President, Community Affairs for Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life. “In promoting active lifestyles for all ages and abilities and fostering awareness and support for the Association for Community Living in Manitoba, the Marathon has become a pivotal Winnipeg event that brings thousands together in our community.”

Great-West staff are actively involved in the Marathon each year, regularly participating in the Full Marathon, Half Marathon, Super Run and Relay events, and as aid station volunteers along the routes.

Continuing a tradition that began with its first sponsorship 20 years ago, Great-West will provide complimentary souvenir caps to Super Run event participants near the start line.
