Optional Benefit Riders – Professional
You can customize your Professional disability insurance protection to meet your particular needs with the following optional benefit riders.
- Own Occupation Protection Rider – Pays a monthly benefit while you are totally disabled in your regular occupation even if you are working in another occupation.
- Return of Premium 50% Rider – Returns 50% of the annual eligible premium paid or waived under your policy on certain dates if you are not disabled and your claims have been minimal.
- Return of Premium – Surrender 50% Rider – Returns a portion of the eligible premium you paid if you surrender your policy on one of the optional surrender dates.
- Limited First Day Accident Rider – Pays a benefit starting the first day of total disability from an off-the-job injury, subject to certain limitations and exceptions.
- Cost of Living Adjustor Rider – Helps protect your benefit from inflation while you are disabled.
- Future Earnings Protector Option Rider – Provides the opportunity to increase your monthly benefit, regardless of changes in your health.
- Future Savings Protector Rider – Pays a monthly benefit into a savings vehicle made available by Great-West if you are receiving the total disability benefit and you aren’t working in any gainful occupation.
- Lifetime Accident and Graded Sickness Benefit Rider – Pays a monthly benefit from age 65 for life while you remain totally disabled.
- Accidental Death and Dismemberment Rider – Pays you or your estate a lump sum for loss of: life; sight in both eyes; both hands; both feet; one hand and one foot; or the use of both hands or both feet, or of one hand and one foot.
- Health Care Rider – Pays a benefit if you contract HIV, Hepatitis B or Hepatitis C and legislation or regulations prohibit you from performing your occupation.
