Built-In Plan Features – Competitor
Competitor has many valuable features designed to provide low-cost protection to help alleviate financial stress caused by a disability for people whose occupations make it challenging to obtain coverage.
The Competitor plan provides you with a monthly income benefit while you are totally or partially disabled due to an off-the-job injury. You choose when your monthly benefit begins after the date you become disabled — from one, 31 or 91 days. You also select how long you want to receive benefits if you remain disabled—24, 36 or 60 months.
The Competitor plan includes the following features:
- Partial disability – Provides an income for up to 90 days while you are partially disabled.
- Recurrent disability – Your monthly income benefit may resume immediately if the same or a related disability recurs within 6 months.
- Presumptive total disability – You are considered totally disabled if you suffer the total and irrevocable loss of: sight in both eyes; hearing in both ears; speech; the use of both hands or both feet; or the use of one hand and one foot. If you qualify for presumptive total disability, we’ll immediately pay your monthly income benefit and waive your premium for the entire benefit period.
- Waiver of premium – If you’ve been disabled for 30 days, we waive the premium as it comes due while your disability continues.
The Competitor plan contains important definitions, limitations, exceptions and potential reductions in benefits.
You can customize your coverage with optional benefit riders. For more details about the Competitor plan, see our At a Glance brochure or contact your financial security advisor.
