No matter which plan you choose, your PlanDirect plan includes several valuable features. These features help you get the most out of your PlanDirect coverage.
Quick claims payment
At Great-West, we’re committed to ensuring you get your claim payments quickly—typically within just a few days of the time we receive it. You’ll receive your claim payment by mail, with an explanation of the payment made.
To make receiving your claim payments even easier, you can also sign up for direct deposit.
Direct deposit
You can have your PlanDirect claim payments automatically deposited to your bank account, free of charge.
Direct deposit is convenient, safe and secure. There are no delays receiving your cheques because of mail disruptions, no chance your cheques will be lost or stolen and no need to deposit your cheques in person.
We’ll deposit your claim payment cheques directly into your account with any credit union, trust company or bank in Canada and send you an explanation of benefits statement indicating when your cheque was deposited.

Preferred Vision Services
The Preferred Vision Services (PVS) program gives you a discount of up to 20 per cent on eyewear purchased from a registered PVS location. The discount applies to frames, prescription lenses, contact lenses and lens extras, such as scratch guard and tints. Most locations will also apply the discount to non-prescription eyewear and accessory items.
To get your discount, present your PlanDirect ID card at any PVS outlet, select your eyewear and then pay the reduced PVS price at the time of purchase. If you are covered under the Advantage, Comprehensive or Premier Plan, you can then submit any visioncare claim to us as usual.

The Individual Health Unit is a dedicated team of claims examiners at Great-West. We are happy to help PlanDirect policy owners with their claims-related needs.

Travel medical card
The travel medical card is a convenient wallet card you will receive if you add the Emergency Travel Medical Benefit option to your PlanDirect plan.
The card makes it easy for you to access medical services, supplies and assistance in case of a medical emergency, if you are travelling outside of Canada and you’re faced with a medical emergency.

A reliable remedy for health concerns
Need answers to simple health questions, or worry that symptoms may point to something more serious? This service can help. You get information and reassurance with one phone call, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A registered nurse provides personalized, telephone assistance.
Family Support Service
Support for what matters most
Links you to a network of qualified, on-call healthcare and home care professionals. Whether you are looking for a solution to a home care emergency or planning long-term care, you get the guidance they need. This is a referral service only, it does not cover the fees for professional and support services.
Nutrition Support Service
Nourishing expert advice
Offers a proactive, self-care approach to wellness. Helps you make positive changes to your diet by examining the underlying issues associated with weight loss/gain, eating routines and lifestyle changes. Solutions include a self-directed package of useful tips, information and resources as well as professional consultation with a Registered Dietician in more complex situations.
