Get Growing Account

It’s never too early to start learning good savings and investing habits. Starting a savings program at a young age can teach children the value of money and help prepare them for important expenses later in life, such as paying for education. Whether it’s a place to park birthday money or deposit first pay cheques, having a low-cost savings vehicle is an important part of planning your children’s financial future.

The Get Growing Account is for children 17 years of age and younger. It has all of the features of our Chequing Account with no monthly fee. The Get Growing Account also gives you control over your child’s level of access for withdrawals.

Features

You can register the Get Growing Account in a child's name, or the child and parent's name if the child is seven to 17. It features unlimited regular transactions with no fees including:

• Cheques
• Pre-authorized payments
• Bill payments and transfers between accounts
• Interac™ direct payment purchases
• Cash withdrawals at any National Bank or THE EXCHANGE® Network of automated banking machines (ABMs)

You also get:

• Four free Interac™ ABM withdrawals in Ontario, Prairie and Atlantic provinces (not including convenience fees charged by some banks and privately owned ABMs)
• 200 free personalized cheques per year (for children from seven to 17 years old)
• Monthly statement
• A tiered interest rate so that the more your children save, the more interest they earn
